Ventura Anthony Martinez, Jr., 63, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the VA Medical Center. Ventura was born August 28, 1953, in Weld County, Colorado, a son of Ventura A. Martinez, Sr. and Josephine (Hernandez) Tortolito. Ventura served in the United States Army as Sgt. First Class (E-7) during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He later served in the Wyoming Army National Guard, totaling 27 years of honorable service to his country. His many interests included working on his cars, dancing, listening to music and playing video games. He was the "apple of his mother's eye", and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Ventura is survived by his loving wife, Katherine; children, Serena and Jeremiah; step-son, Greg; mother, Josephine; two sisters, Lorraine and Sharon; three brothers, Steve, Christopher and Kenneth; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony; and three brothers, Johnny, Manuel and Jimmy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, February 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. An interment service will follow at Beth El Cemetery.
