Verna Ward

Verna E. Ward, 91, of Cheyenne died unexpectedly August 24, 2015 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born June 24, 1924 in Cheyenne to Charles and Isabel Viner. She lived in Cheyenne all of her life and attended and graduated from Central High School. She married Isaac "Jack" Franklin Head in 1944 and later Edward T. Ward in 1961. She was an avid member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary having been a 3 time Unit President, District President and Americanism Chairwoman, as well as many other offices. She was also a member of the Women's Club, past president of Alpha Beta Sigma Phi, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. She is survived by her children, Marlene Marlowe of Cheyenne, Jackie (Leon) Huckins of Sturgis, SD, Lois Head of Cheyenne and Charles Ward of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Donna (Robert) McSwain and Neil Marlowe of Virginia, Eugene Huckins and Jonathan Huckins of Sturgis, Sarah Ward and John Ward of Cheyenne; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Kyle Marlowe. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands. Those who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday 3:30 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
