Vernon Sprengeler

Vernon Walter Sprengeler, 88, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Sunday evening, September 20, 2015, at the Davis Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. Vernon was born January 28, 1927, in Hancock, Minnesota, a son of the late Walter W.F. and Margaret D. (Hunerberg) Sprengeler. Vernon graduated in 1945 from Dr. Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, MN. He was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably for the occupation forces in Berlin through December 1946. He married Sylvia Katherine Schwarting in 1956, and he worked for the United States Postal Service from May 1956 to November 1987. He was a charter member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, and his many interests included collecting license plates and being a former member of the American License Plate Collector Association, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family. Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Sprengeler; seven children and their families, Mark Sprengeler (Stacy), Ann Sprengeler, Mike Sprengeler (Lisa and children, John and Mary Anna), Quinn Sprengeler, Cheryl Fiechtner (Jerome and children, Matthew and Adam), Beth Fleischer (Joel and children, Leah (Jesse), Alexander and Miranda, and great-granddaughter, Etta), and Karen Gallaher (Chris and children, Kirsten, Tyler and Katherine); and brother, Robert Sprengeler (Linda). He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Emma (Uhlbricht) Sprengeler; sister, Ruth Hahn; and brother, Marlin Sprengeler. Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, September 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Seybt officiating. A private interment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery.
