Virginia Giovale

Mrs. Virginia C. (Grendeski) Giovale, 97, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday morning, May 21, 2014, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. Mrs. Giovale was born October 12, 1916, in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Louis S. and Cecelia (Wisniewski) Grendeski. Virginia worked as a registered nurse in Detroit, Michigan, prior to her marriage to Dr. Silvio J. Giovale. The couple moved to Reliance, Wyoming, and following the completion of Dr. Giovale's service in World War II, they moved to Cheyenne where she worked in the home caring for her five children. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral, and a past member of XJWC, DePaul and Memorial Hospital Auxiliaries, Bishop's Guild, and as a driver for Meals-On-Wheels. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to the Lord. Virginia is survived by her five children, Dr. Richard Giovale of Cheyenne, Thomas Giovale of Longmont, CO, Judith Schwartz and husband, Gary, of Kent, WA, Mary Lou Schryer and husband, Rich, of Washington, IL, and Jean Profaizer and husband, Frank, of Cheyenne, five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Dr. Silvio J. Giovale on June14, 2002; and a brother, Louis Grendeski. Visitation will be private. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Michael Carr as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Virginia's memory may be made to Meals-On-Wheels, Wyoming Children's Society, or the Alzheimer's Association.
