Mrs. Wilda May Stevens, 82, of Burns, Wyoming, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Stevens was born December 1, 1929, in Keota, Colorado, a daughter of the late Victor L. and Mildred (Bonnell) Bain. Wilda was married to Merle May for 32 years and her love of cooking led to her serving as a cook for Governor Ed Herschler for his three terms. She later married Ed Stevens until his death on December 3, 1986. She served as State Department President of the American Legion Auxiliary and also three-time Director for Girl's State. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Wilda is survived by her son, M. Lee May and wife, Sherri, of Hillsdale; three grandchildren, Melanie D. Sorensen, Kyle D. May and Mary K. Graves and husband, Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Breanna Sorensen, Randa Sorensen, Zoë Sorensen, Reese Graves and Payson Graves; one great-great grandson, Nikoah Sorensen; two brothers, Jim Bain and wife, Lois, and Roger Bain and wife, Erma; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed Stevens; her daughter, Krisanda Sue Camic; a brother, Earl Bain; and three sisters, Mary Sims, Betty Renfro and Kathline Bain. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A private family interment service will be held in Pine Bluffs Cemetery at a later date.
