William A. "Bill" Delo, of Cheyenne died on July 16, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 15, 1936, in Denver, Colorado. He was the adopted son of William A. Delo, Sr. and Mary Work Delo.
He graduated from Central High School in Pueblo, CO and received his Bachelor's Degree from Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo, Colorado, and his Master's Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). He was the first in the State of Wyoming to have the latter designation and trained others to achieve the same, plus he proctored at testing sites for the (CRC).
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Doreen Sing; three sons, Aaron William Delo of Cannon City, CO, Jason Delo of Cheyenne and Justin of Hawaii; two daughters, Jaquelyn Lavonne Minchew of Bristol, Tx, and Sherry Lynn Cook of Ft. Mohave, AZ; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and his sister, Jan Delano of Rosenburg, Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, William Delo, Sr. and Mary Work Delo; birthparents James Burton Steele and Winifred Grace Calkins Steele, his son William Earl Delo and his brother, Jim Steele of Shingletown, California.
Bill was a long time Wyoming State employee, volunteered for many organizations, and most enthusiastic of the time he spent with the Adoption Intermediary Commission and as a Confidential Adoption Intermediary. He enjoyed working on his family's genealogy and traveling all about with his wife, Doreen. He was a proud Life Time Member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Calkins Family Association.
Burial will be in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Columbarium in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
A Memorial Service will held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming on August 12th at 10:00 a.m.
Services will be announced at a later date.
