William E. "Willie" Roeseler, of Cheyenne, died on Monday, July 15, 2019 after succumbing to a difficult battle with COPD. Willie was born on June 27, 1931 in Cheyenne. He attended St. Mary's School, and graduated in 1949. In 1949, Willie went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad where he started as an apprentice electrician, and retired forty-two years later as a locomotive engineer. During his time at UP, Willie proudly served as Local Chairman, and Vice General Chairman for the United Transportation Union. Along with serving Local 28, he served as Delegate to four International Conventions. In 1954, Willie was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent 15 months stationed in France as part of an Engineer Battalion before being honorably discharged in 1956. Upon leaving the service, Willie returned to Cheyenne. Willie's interested included aviation and cooking. He first soloed in 1950, then earned his private's pilots license. In 1988, Willie earned his Single Engine Seaplane rating. He also enjoyed flying his own Cessna 150 until 1997. In cooking, Willie won the Wyoming State Beef Cook-Off in 1983. He also attended the Cordon Bleu London School and the Ecole Des Artes Cuisinier in Lyon, France. Willie loved sharing his culinary talents with friends and neighbors. Willie is survived by his wife, Diana F. "Danny" Roeseler, sister Loretta Bonham of Missoula, MT, and three children, Adam Roeseler of Hermosa, SD; Steve (Kelly ne O'Connor) Roeseler of Atoka, TN; and Sarah (Dale) Brandt of St. Libory, IL; seven grandchildren, Ian Plamann, Kayla Roeseler Hammond, Nicholas Roeseler, Brandon Roeseler, Emily Cohen, Elissa Cohen, and August Brandt; and one great grandchild, Liam Hammond. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sarah (ne Powell) Roeseler of Cheyenne, and a brother James Powell of Ireland. A Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral with interment to follow in Olivet Cemetery, with military honors. Contributions can be made to the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
