William W. "Bill" VanZee, 84, of Medicine Bow, Wyoming, passed away at his home December 18, 2014, with his wife of 52 years, Jessie, at his side. Bill was born May 12, 1930, to Marion D. and Wilma VanZee. He was educated at Horse Creek, Wyoming, and graduated from Central High School in 1949. Bill worked on the Tugman and Davis ranch during his high school years. He joined the United State Army in 1951 where he served in the Korean War. When he was discharged from the Army, he went to work at Great Western Sugar Corporation in 1953. He married Jessie Snell on May 10, 1963, in Cheyenne. Bill continued working at Great Western Sugar Corporation until moving to Medicine Bow in 1975. Bill worked in the mines at Medicine Bow until he purchased JB Stop and Shop in 1982. Bill enjoyed spending time with his wife, Jessie, and his parents fishing every weekend while in Horse Creek. He spent many hours with his nieces and nephews hunting, fishing and teaching them the meaning of being accountable for their actions and the importance of a good work ethic. Bill leaves behind his wife, Jessie VanZeel; sister, Carol Stroh; brothers-in-law, Charles Mitts and Everett (Linda) Mitts; sisters-in-law, Louise Griffin, Helen Gail Snell, Atha (Stanley) Hall, Pauline (Elmer) Smith, Bonnie mitts, and Darlene VanZee; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Marion and Wilma VanZee; his siblings, Everett VanZee, Isabelle Gebhart, Marion (Bud) VanZee and Jessie VanZee. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
