Wilma S. Hardy, 98, a resident of Lifecare of Cheyenne passed away on August 26, 2016. She was born May 23, 1918 in Humphrey, NE to Rev. Elmer and Elizabeth Spohorona (Long) Howery. She was one of five children. Her father was killed in a tractor accident in 1922. Her mother then married Evi Long in 1924. He left Nebraska for Colorado in search of work. The family arrived later by car on September 6, 1929 and they settled in Greeley, CO. She met her husband, Richard Hardy of Carpenter, WY at a summer church camp. They later married on March 20, 1935 in Greeley, CO., and made their home on a farm near Carpenter. They had five children. Wilma loved music, gardening, her friends and family. She was the Choir Director at the Carpenter Methodist Church and later the Burns Presbyterian Church. She was also a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Prairie Wind Quartet for many years in the 1970's and 80's. Then later joined the Indian Paintbrush Chorus of Cheyenne, and had many years of enjoyment from both and made many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hardy; sons, Ernie and Glen Hardy; daughter, Sherillene Stremel; parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Howery: three brothers,, Carrol Howery Long, Dudley Hamilton Howery and Warren Phillip Howery; sister, Margaret Eveyln Belknap and a grandson. She is survived by her children, Scott Hardy of Bowman, ND and Jody K. Hardy of Casper, WY and nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
