Winston Slider, 72, of Chugwater, died June 11, 2014 at his home. He was born August 30, 1941 in Crawford, NE to Lawrence and Alice Slider. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1957 and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. He attended the University of Wyoming and married Dixie Hoyt on June 10, 1967 in Laramie. He was a member of Chugwater Valley Church and the American Legion in Chugwater. He enjoyed serving others through his work with various non-profits. A special blessing was his time spent with Habitat for Humanity International in Africa. He had the privilege to work with former president Jimmy Carter in Plains, GA. He made us laugh and think, and he loved his Lord. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Slider of Chugwater, daughters and sons-in-law, Ambika and Paul Schoening of Cheyenne, Tekla Slider of Cheyenne and Heather & Rick Stitzel of Edmund, OK; grandsons, David Schoening, Thomas Schoening, Mackenzie Stitzel and Joshua Stitzel; brother, Landis Slider of Las Vegas, NV and 2 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 nephews. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at the Chugwater Valley Church, 120 3rd Street, with a dinner to follow.
