Laramie

Zachary David Knepp, affectionately known as Zach, departed this world on April 7, 2025, in Laramie, Wyoming, at the age of 36. Born on March 31, 1989, in Ogden, Utah, Zach's life was a tapestry rich with adventure, love, and unyielding kindness.

Zach was a dedicated C-130 Crew Chief who served proudly in the Wyoming Air Guard for 13 years, completing four overseas deployments. His commitment to duty was loved by many, and it was evident that Zach excelled in all aspects of his role, earning respect and admiration from those who served alongside him.

In 2019, Zach achieved a significant milestone by earning his Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. This accomplishment was just one of many that highlighted his intelligence and determination. He was not only skilled in aviation repair but also had a myriad of interests that brought joy to his life and those around him. From cooking elaborate meals for family and friends to relishing in the thrill of skateboarding and video games, Zach's playful and goofy spirit endeared him to many.

Zach's warmth and humor were matched only by his deep love for his family. He cherished moments spent camping with them, playing with his beloved nephew, Ezra, and niece, Isla, and celebrating joyous holidays together. His adventurous soul took him to far-reaching places, having lived in Japan for four years, Germany for four years, and Charleston, South Carolina, for five years—experiences that he often recounted fondly. Visiting castles in Germany was among his most cherished memories, reflecting his enthusiasm for rich history and cultural exploration.

Zach's personality was a delightful blend of kindness, sarcasm, and intelligence. Those who knew him enjoyed his sense of humor and appreciated his thoughtful nature. He had an innate ability to make people feel comfortable and welcomed, a trait that will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory. Zach is survived by his father, Paul M. Knepp; stepmother, Valerie Knepp; mother, Robin A. Roberts; stepfather, Aaron H. Roberts; brother, Cody Knepp; sister-in-law, CareyAnne Knepp; nephew, Ezra J. Knepp; niece, Isla M. Knepp; stepbrother, Kaden Morrison; stepsister-in-law, Tia Morrison; stepbrother, Dylan Morrison; stepsister, Molly Koch; stepbrother Noah Roberts; stepsister Gabby Roberts and several other beloved nieces and nephews.

Zach now reunites with those who have gone before him, including his paternal grandparents, Byron and Darlene Knepp, his maternal grandparents, David and Mary Benitz, and his stepbrother, Justin Morrison. Their spirits will surely welcome him with open arms, as he carried their love and legacy throughout his life.

Though Zach has departed from this earth naturally, his spirit endures in the hearts of all who knew him. As we remember Zach, we celebrate a kind soul whose laughter, love, and life will never be forgotten. He has left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and his legacy will continue through the memories shared and the love he cultivated in this world.
