Zachary David "Zach" McDonald

September 18, 1989 — January 30, 2025

Cheyenne

Zachary David "Zach" McDonald, a beloved soul who graced this world with his kindness and humor, passed away on January 30, 2025, in his hometown of Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he was born on September 18, 1989. He departed this life at the young age of 35, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty and love that will resonate with all who knew him.

When Zach was a young boy, he lived with his grandparents Ron and Nancy McDonald along with his dad, Alan. He started kindergarten in Burns, WY and graduated from High School in Burns in 2008. In the 1st grade, his teacher made him take his boots off when he got to school, and this is when his troublemaker attitude came out. He got upset, stomped out of school and walked his way home across town and passed the railroad tracks. He was always taking on other people's causes and sticking up for them. When he wasn't at school, he loved roping with Pop's (Ron McDonald) or playing army with his brothers. He had to take on the entire role of Army including the outfits which called for his dad taking him to thrift stores to find Battle Dress Uniforms. During one of his roping adventures with Pop's, he was told he wouldn't be able to go again because he was too naughty that day. He tapped pop's on the shoulder and asked "Can we at least be a little-bit naughty?" and that's when Pop's knew he was a handful of a grandkid. If he wasn't roping or playing Army, he was watching Disney movies with his Nana (Nancy McDonald).

Zach's journey took him through various careers, where he became an expert in every endeavor he undertook. From his early days working at TA Taco Bell during high school, to his time as a driver at Magic City, and his role as an Aquatics and Reptile expert at PETCO, Zach approached each job with enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge. His tenure at MAGPUL as a line lead and quality control was marked by his dedication and meticulous attention to detail, while his position as an administrative assistant at Merritt Plumbing showcased his versatility and adaptability.

An alumnus of LCCC, Zach was not just an employee but a beacon of friendship and camaraderie. His personality shone brightly; he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel unique. To be a friend of Zach was to know a connection that would last a lifetime, buoyed by his unmatched loyalty. He had an infectious spirit, one that was both kind and funny; he could lift your spirits with a mere smile or a shared laugh.

Zach cherished his family deeply, and  one of the proudest moments in his life was becoming an uncle to his beloved nephew, Ronald Roy McDonald. The memory of holding little Ronnie for the first time in the hospital is a treasure that will remain etched in the hearts of those who loved him. As a Godparent to Jayden and Zayne Lincoln, he welcomed the role with open arms, embracing the responsibility with the same love and affection that he extended to his family and friends alike.

Zach's interests were as diverse as his pursuits. He found great joy in fishing, forging knives, and proudly supported the Green Bay Packers. His love for America was palpable, and he spent countless joyous hours hanging out with friends, listening to music, or simply enjoying the camaraderie of those around him. Friday nights spent watching football together with a close friend are cherished moments that encapsulate the warmth of his friendships.

He is survived by his father, Alan McDonald; step-mother, Cathy McDonald; mother, Leah McCloud; brother, Bradley McDonald, sister-in-law, Michele McDonald, nephew Jonathan Cuccia and niece Madison Cuccia; brother, Shane McDonald, sister-in-law, Brittany McDonald, nephew Ronald Roy McDonald; grandparental figures, Ronald and Nancy McDonald; and an array of devoted friends, including Jordyn Parry and T.J. Lincoln, along with his God-sons, Jayden and Zayne Lincoln.

A memorial service to honor Zach's life will be held on February 8, 2025, at Destiny Church in Cheyenne, Wyoming, offering family and friends an opportunity to gather together, share stories, and celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives.

Zachary David McDonald was more than a man defined by his careers; he was a friend, a brother, and above all, a beloved son and grandson. His spirit will continue to reside in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him, leaving behind memories that will forever echo with laughter and love.
